The BHTC!

Brum’s History Theatre

We are a community focused drama group, created and run by local history enthusiasts, and with strong links to our Birmingham local history society.
Here is a some more information about us and how all of this came about.

The Birmingham History Theatre Company, based in Birmingham, UK, had its origins in the Balsall Heath Local History Society’s Making History Reminiscence Theatre Group and the old St Paul’s Community Theatre Group.

It was formally constituted in 2009 with the following aims:

  1. To promote and raise awareness of Birmingham’s heritage through plays, dramatic presentations, participative workshops and associated events.
  2. To increase active participation in exploring and interpreting Birmingham’s heritage through an open membership policy.
  3. To contribute to community cohesion and increased understanding of the diverse heritage of Birmingham today.

All our productions are devised and written by members of the Company.

Since 2009 the Company has gone from strength to strength with a diverse mix of staged productions, dramatic walking trails, smaller presentations and dramatic Canal Walks with music. We also always take part in the Balsall Heath Carnival procession.
